The Drowsy Poet Coffee Company: Get Caffeinated

The Drowsy Poet Coffee Company is a busy café in Pensacola. If carefully-made coffee is your thing, you can count on being satisfied with a brew made from hand-crafted roast beans prepared on site. The list of coffees at Drowsy Poet is constantly expanding, too. (Seasonal favorites can be viewed on the Drowsy Poet website’s “Coffees” product tab, if you’re curious.) What’s more, the Drowsy Poet seeks to purchase Fair Market Trade and other environmentally responsible products. The setting is welcoming and comfortable, with plenty of room for those hoping to settle in for a work session. The house coffee cake is great too, when paired with the well-loved coffee. Particularly recommended is the Poetchino, a frozen beverage with a light coffee flavor. Service here is friendly and attentive and the literary twist takes more than just the name of the shop: the theme drives the art as well as the names of drinks.

Jasmine Thai: Destin’s Thai Destination

Jasmine Thai is a Destin restaurant that caters to your tastes with great prices and authentic flavors. For example, their curry selection is outstanding, offering green curry, red curry, panang curry, massaman curry, and yellow curry. The typical curries can be prepared with your meat of choice or veggies too, and promise to deliver authentic Thai flavors like sweet basil, coconut milk, and tasty bell peppers. If you’re more of a noodle person, there are a plethora of choices ranging from pad thai with bean sprouts and crushed peanuts, pad pak with sautéed vegetables, pad himalai with a mushoom and cashew flair, or others. And of course, there are classics such as vegetable fried rice, or deep-fried or soft tofu mixed with peanut sauce and served on steaming veggies.

The Happy Pig Café

Head to Pensacola’s historic district to experience The Happy Pig Café. One of Florida’s finest barbecue joints, The Happy Pig also serves seafood, fresh side dishes, and tasty baked breads. The sauces to spice up the cooking range from Alabama white sauce and South Carolina yellow to vinegar-based toppings as well as spicy tomato-based tastiness. Side dishes on offer are no slouches, either: the broccoli salad gets positive reviews, in spite of the vegetable’s typical unpopularity. Pulled pork seems to get the most attention, and the portions are generous so you don’t have to worry about the quantity when you know the quality’s good. You may have to be patient and a bit creative when it comes to ordering your meal or finding your barbecue sauces, though – if they don’t come to you, be prepared to go to them. Indoor-outdoor seating makes The Happy Pig a good choice in any season!
